Moby Dig has taken up residence by Pipeline-X. Keep clear of this hazard in the water.
Moby has made local and national news.
On Saturday 12th September LKSC staged our first ever Kitesurf BoarderX.
The idea of a BoarderX had been discussed for over a year and with some meticulous planning, (begging for booms) and a huge amount of luck with the wind we raced late into the afternoon in some some pretty blustery conditions.
Firstly lets start with the setup, it was a low key event and all about competitors getting through loads of heats of fun but tight racing, the course was set thanks to the BKSA Jet Ski launching the buoys and booms from the beach as the race rib had to be harboured due to rough seas, we set challenging course – a downwind bias two large buoys to jump over and few buoys to slalom around all starting with a beach or water start based on riders choice.
With 3 riders per heat we got through 3 full rounds of racing before semi finals and the closely fought final. Noteable performance came from both regular Lancing kiters and also riders that had travelled further afield from Calshot and even Hunstanton!
From an club perspective this was a great event, well supported and a real privilege to help organise and run. It was fun to see the competitive spirit across the whole fleet and support from all riders and spectators on the day too.
Our winners of course need a mention;
1st Place – Matt Russell
2nd Place – Lionel Hatch
3rd Place – Rich De Silvo
Best Wipeout – Matt Dimmock
Highest placed Female – Andrina Kelly
The Dave Funnell award for Participation – Kev Maguire
We must also thank for their support;
LKSC support crew – Sarah, Sarah, Eunice, and of course Rory!
Our sponsors- Emma at North Kites UK, Adam at Takoon and Ion, Mike at Airush and Tom at Ozone and Maxtrack
So do you want to be involved some more? Join in and help out, we are looking for more support to help run the club and take Lancing Kitesurfing Club forward, if you think you can offer something, no matter how big or small then just get in touch by replying to this email.

A brilliant day yesterday at the LKSC Race what your ride event! It was great to see the competitive spirit take to the water especially in the line up to start, with a range of different kites, sizes and board choices! We had a great view from the boat with some brilliant attempts to get off the start line first and some real close racing throughout the afternoon.
In round 1 we held three 2 lap races and a good judge that competitors enjoyed it was their eagerness to do a second round of three 1 lap races after an update on riders scores and positions. It was all to play for in round two where the wind picked up and the racing was even faster and more competitive.
By round two, the riders were really in the swing of the flag sequence, attacking the start line and even applying tactics to race efficiently and competitively around the course.
By the end of 6 races the results were totalled and there were some well earned podium finishes;
- 1st – Rich De Silvo
- 2nd – Christine Johnston
- 3rd – Anuradha WJ
Other notable results were from Richard Morris just pipping Dan Charlish on equal points but more races completed, Ryan Flynn for a great set of results in round 2 and Dave Funnell for great enthusiasm and determination, especially in race 6!
And finally a HUGE THANK YOU
First of all to the COMPETITORS for making Race What You Ride such a fun and exciting event.

BRITISH KITESPORTS FREESTYLE TOUR
Location: LANCING KITE BEACH
LKSC are proud to support the British Kitesports, Kiteworld and IKSURFMAG national freestyle – the first of the 3 stop British tour for 2015. This is a fresh approach to re-invigorate the grass roots and club level of kitesurfing. The national tour has an equal focus on amateur level riding as much as the pro fleet.
The amateur classes, for both men and women will focus on fun competition in the style of Big Air, handle pass tricks will not score. Styling boosts, grabs and rotations are the foundation for this category – more big air than blind judge 3 (whatever that is!).
“We’re really excited to be coming down to Lancing and working with the club to deliver this event, it’s been a while since a proper freestyle tour has happened in the UK and Lancing is the perfect location to kick start the series!” – Rou Chater – IKSURFMAG
Top UK riders are signing up to throw down at our local spot – Tom Bridge the latest signing will be battling out in the Pro Mens. Lancing beach boost regular world champion visitors this year see a likely appearance from Kevin Langeree, past World Champion and Red Bull King of the Air. Of course our local kiting superstar Lewis will be the event MC and commentator.
